STORY

Jerry Williams, founder, and lead pitmaster is affectionately known as “Lucille” to his family and friends. Jerry grew up smoking, grilling, barbequing and cooking various meats and dishes at an early age, a combined 35 years plus experience in the cooking industry, with his Paw, who gave him the nickname Lucille from the Kenny Rogers’ song. And Jerry’s Paw’s favorite saying was “how ‘bout that”.  So when Jerry decided to take his love of smoking, grilling, barbequing and cooking and make his delicious creations available to the public, it seemed only fitting to name the business “Lucille’s How Bout That BBQ”.  


 

We are family-owned and operated, with over 40 years of combined restaurant, smoking and grilling experience. Our team has competed in KCBS (Kansas City BBQ Society) sanctioned pro competitions in all four meat categories: brisket, chicken, ribs, and pork. Our lead pitmaster is also a certified KCBS judge. 

Lucille's "How bout that" BBQ 

uses only quality meats and seasoning in our grilling and smoking processes. We believe "slow is fast" when it comes to our smoking process for beef brisket and pork shoulder.

Lucille’s BBQ catered the pulled pork for my daughter’s wedding reception and it was the BEST pulled pork we had ever tasted in our lives.  As the guests, family and the wedding party entered the reception hall the amazing aroma of the pork filled the room. Lucille (Jerry) is very personable, he did all of the work, I provided him with the number of people to be served and he knew exactly how much pulled pork would be needed.  Lucille’s BBQ prices are reasonable for high quality products and services. With our family growing up in rural Indiana and our father having his own meat market and meatpacking plant, we experienced some of the best meat available in Indiana, so when I say Lucille’s pulled pork was the best we had ever tasted in our lives, that is saying a lot.  Compliments were received on Lucille’s pulled pork, not only during the reception that evening, but for days and weeks to follow. If I need to cater another function in the future, Lucille’s BBQ will be our first call!

Lucille’s How Bout That BBQ is great!  Lucille’s BBQ catered our 100+ person family reunion on our family farm featuring Lucille’s delicious, mouth-watering, pulled pork, ribs, and grilled chicken.  Their set up was professional, they prepared and catered food on-site which was impressive. Everyone in our family walked away satisfied and full. I would recommend Lucille’s BBQ for any upcoming event.  Again, their on-site food preparation and presentation was a class act!
